In this family room in Mira, Dubai, we refreshed the existing scheme and turned the space into a cosy, neutral and bright space by replacing the existing dark wood furniture with light pieces with a boho feel. We created a vintage gallery wall above the sofa using some existing lovely artworks and prints mixed with some modern prints sourced from all over the world. We don’t normally dwell on the TV side of a living room because, let’s face it, as designers, we tend to want to hide that bit when redesigning a living room, unless we can create something special and easy on the eye! This custom media unit/bookshelf was a labour of love despite looking pretty simple in design… We enlisted the help of the clever clogs at The Savvy Space to categorise, organise, declutter, every book, toy, magazine, and keepsake to create a completely customised wall-to-wall floor to ceiling media unit where every item our client had stored in the lounge found a spot, in a tidy and organised way. All the books are colour-coded and displayed by genre/theme, we even created two custom shelves to host a vintage record player and a fish tank. All the drawers and cupboards are organised with kids toys and tech, labelled so everything is easy to find. It’s an organised boho dream!
